I'm my own harshest critic. Every line, every curve, every shadow — I sit with it until it feels true. So when an illustration finally clicks, when I look at it and feel that quiet satisfaction deep in my chest, I know it's ready. And when it's ready, everything else just flows.

That's exactly what happened with the Desaru Whispers: Komodo Skin collection.

Before: The Blank Canvas

It started, like all my work does, with a feeling. I wanted to capture something raw and tropical — not the postcard version of Malaysia's coast, but the real energy of it. The heat. The stillness before a storm. The way the jungle meets the sea at Desaru and just... breathes.

I drew a Komodo Dragon. Not fierce in an obvious way — fierce in a quiet way. The kind of power that doesn't need to announce itself. I layered it with traditional batik motifs, the kind that once signalled power and ranking in Malaysian textile culture. Ancient symbols, reborn in ink.
