The Angel Illustration: En Siste Kamp (One Last Fight)

The Angel Illustration: En Siste Kamp (One Last Fight)

This book was published last year, and only a handful of people even know about it. I created the illustration of Nils Arne Morka portraying him as an angel—it was his own request.

A few years ago, I came across his story in the news: his serious ailments, yet how he embraced life with everything he had—skydiving, traveling the world. It moved me deeply. I started following him on Instagram; he was incredibly inspirational, even as his life was coming to an end.

So I drew a few surreal, motivational illustrations and sent them to him, just to say: keep that incredible strength going. One of them showed him knocked down, sitting in the corner of a boxing ring, while a rabbit gave him a pep talk. Weird, I know... lol. But he was a boxer, so it felt right.

Then one day, he asked if I could draw him as an angel. He wanted to use it for his gravestone. I felt so honored, and at the same time sad. I'd always imagined my illustrations hanging on someone's wall, something to look at and enjoy. But on a gravestone? That's something else entirely.

A couple of years later, he bought that illustration from me to feature in his biography. It was printed in Norway, read by many, and he even signed a copy for me. I'm still deeply honored by that.

This website isn't just about selling art—it's part of my life. My portfolio, my highs and lows, my thoughts. Truly mine.

Even though I don't draw rainbows and butterflies, my art (born from therapy, darkness, and sadness) is what sells. So I hope that one day my work will be exhibited somewhere meaningful. To hopefull make another person heal, hope.

My biggest goal, though—the one I dream about—is to exhibit at the International Contemporary Art Fair in Istanbul. It happens every year, bringing together independent creative artists from all over the world. And while I'm there, I'd finally get to wander the streets and hidden alleys that I've been drawing for years in my Kurt Çamer storytelling series...
